Ron Tracy Concert Model
|
Ron Tracy's Concert model is based on the Hoffman design of the same name. The basic premise is a smaller instrument with big, full, even sound - a little more dreadnought-ish than an OM or other smaller body style. It makes this guitar very comfortable to play and hold, but it still feels (and sounds) substantial. The construction is flawless. What we call "no-fudge" construction - a hallmark of Ron's style that comes from decades of doing some of the country's best repair work on all kinds of instruments. This attention to detail and proper worksmanship translates into his finishing as well (see photos). The tone of this instrument is well balanced and full, but the mids are a bit punchier than one would expect from a dreadnought, making it well suited for melodic work beyond simple rhythm support. Also, this particular guitar has a great range of tonal possibilities - play at the bridge and you're a country star, play at the 12th fret and you might as well be playing a harp. The Engleman spruce top paired with the smaller body size make for very articulate response fit for intricate playing. The look is subtle, but elegant - a great addition to any collection, but definitely a player's guitar.
